Response

  1. The number of Advanced Clinical Practitioners (ACPs) and trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioners (tACPs) currently employed on your hyper-acute and/or acute stroke units (including Advanced Nurse Practitioners).

We have 7 AP’s (Formerly ACPs) and 2 tAPs (Formerly tACPs). Of the 2 trainees – 1 is in her final year doing her dissertation.
The APs/tAPs cover a 24/7 thrombolysis/thrombectomy service plus same day TIA clinics at the weekends.

  2. The professional background/s of the ACPs and tACPs on your hyper-acute and/or stroke units.

8 of the APs are Registered Nurses. 1 is a Registered Physiotherapist. The RNs have done their complete training at OUH/OBU. The PT was part through his AP masters training when he came to us from another Trust.
The RNs were recruited into trainee posts from both within the Trust and externally in 3 separate cohorts. They either worked in stroke, critical care or theatres prior to becoming trainee APs.
The PT has worked in stroke for many years previously being a Stroke specialist PT and ward stroke ward manager (in a previous Trust)
